Rotary Air Lock

Technical Description:
A rotary air lock transfers dust or bulk material between parts of a handling system while limiting airflow through the discharge opening. A driven rotor turns inside a close-fitting housing. Material enters pockets between the rotor blades at the inlet, moves around with the rotor and drops from the outlet. In dust collection systems, the valve commonly removes material from a cyclone or filter hopper into a bin, conveyor or other receiving equipment. Its capacity depends on pocket volume, rotational speed and how readily the material fills and empties. Rotor clearances, material properties and pressure differences influence leakage and operating performance.
