Technical Description: A baghouse filter separates airborne dust from an industrial exhaust stream using fabric filter bags. A fan moves dust-laden air into a housing, where the filter material captures particles while allowing air to pass through. Dust accumulates on the filter surfaces and is periodically released by a cleaning method such as compressed air pulses, reverse airflow or mechanical shaking. The released material falls into a hopper for removal. Baghouses are used in woodworking and many other processes that generate fine particulate. Filter material, available filter area, airflow and dust properties influence performance. Cleaning and dust discharge help maintain airflow through the collector.
