Technical Description: A spark detection and extinguishing system monitors material moving through a pneumatic conveying or dust extraction duct. Optical sensors detect radiation from passing sparks or hot particles and send a signal to a control unit. In a typical water-based arrangement, the control unit activates downstream spray nozzles to cool the ignition source before it reaches a collector, bin or silo. The system may also trigger alarms, equipment shutdown or airflow diversion. Its operation depends on coordinated detection, control and extinguishing components. Duct conditions, conveying speed, sensor coverage and water delivery affect the system design and its response to an event.
