Cyclone

Technical Description:
A cyclone separates solid particles from an air stream by making the air rotate inside a cylindrical and tapered chamber. The swirling motion carries particles toward the outer wall, where they move downward into a collection hopper. Air with a reduced dust load leaves through an outlet near the center of the separator. Cyclones are commonly used to collect coarse dust, chips and other bulk material, or as a first stage ahead of finer filtration. Separation depends on particle size and density, airflow and cyclone geometry. Very fine particles can remain in the outgoing air and may require a downstream filter.
